I've heard that this book has done wonders for others, but personally I hated it. It goes against my parenting philosophy to treat my baby with a one size fits all approach. And personally I don't distinguish a "protest cry" as being a cry that doesn't need cuddling. Also, I HATE the claims and assertions that are not scientifically founded (for eg, feeding very young babies to comfort them is a cause of adult obesity (!) and this is just one - there are many ridiculous assertions in this book). Save your money and get a book that is based on some kind of research, rather than just the rants of a childless nanny who is telling people what to do, rather than how or why. Unless it works for you, then go for it...
